Claire Elaine Edmond, 61, Burlington, died Jan. 3, 2013, in Sheboygan from complications of severe sepsis. She was born May 5, 1951, in Burlington, to Charles A. and Loeva M. (Fell) Bullis.
She graduated from Waterford Union High School in 1969, and completed the Cosmetology program at Gateway Technical Institute in Racine in 1975. She worked at Eugene’s Beauty Salon in Burlington and taught in the Cosmetology Dept. at Gateway. She operated Impressions Styling Studio in Burlington and Act II Hair Design in Rochester.
She was a founding member of the Honey Creek Community Theater group where she was a performer and principal director for more than 20 years. She also founded the drama club at St. Charles School in Burlington for grades 5 through 8, directing annual performances of musical theater. She enjoyed cooking, art, scrapbooking, and reading.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Robert Edmond; her father, Charles Bullis, Union Grove; and five sisters: Cheryl Hipke, Everett, Wash., Caryl Townsend (Jimmy), Corona, Calif., Caren Schultz (George), Elkhart Lake, Dawn Thoune (Todd), Menominee, Mich., Leslie Bencivenga (Ray), Germantown; sisters-in-law in South Carolina; nieces; nephews; cousins; many dear and longtime friends; stepfather, Lester Keller, Tucson, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Loeva ‘Lou’ Keller; nephew, Seaman Apprentice George C. Schultz, U.S. Navy; and her beloved grandmother, Pearl Fell.
Visitation is Jan. 19, at noon at Honey Creek Community Hall (adjacent to the Baptist Church), 35512 Washington Ave., Honey Creek. Memorial services begin at 1 p.m., with the Revs. Howard Brown, Joe Dallas, and Willie Coleman officiating. A lunch will follow in the dining room, courtesy of theatre friends. Interment at Burlington Cemetery will occur at a later date. Wenig Funeral Home, Sheboygan Falls, is serving the family.
