Benefit nets $2,000 for Burlington’s Transitional Living Center

A crowd of nearly 200 gathered at the banquet hall of Cotton Exchange Restaurant in Waterford on Sunday for a relaxing concert of harp music. “Musical Moments of Hope and Healing” was presented by harpist Tami Briggs, of Eden Prairie, Minn.
Briggs is a therapeutic harpist, education speaker, recording artist and author. The afternoon event included music and meditative readings with a focus on holiday peace.
The event was organized by Rosemary Bilgrien, owner of Heart and Hands Therapeutic Massage, Rochester, along with Nancy Zick of Healing Grace, Burlington and Cindi Schweitzer of Integrity Funeral Services, Waterford. The three businesses combined with a number of other local businesses to sponsor the cost of the event, with the banquet hall being provided by Cotton Exchange.
The sponsorship allowed for 100 percent of the ticket sales, totaling $2,000, to be donated to Transitional Living Center (TLC), Burlington.
TLC is a homeless shelter whose primary focus is to provide transitional living for women and children. Bilgrien said she chose to donate to TLC out of a desire to help those women.
“This was a major blessing, especially at this time of year,” said TLC’s Executive Director, Cristen Chaffee.
Chaffee said the center expanded its services this year. “This money really helps provide for the needs of homeless in Western Racine County,” she said.
Bilgrien was very pleased with the event’s turnout. “I am so grateful to all of the sponsors and to everyone who came,” she said.
